New 3D graphics – Dungeonset

Here comes a dungeonset. This set is made of 15 single parts , with which you can build a dungeon with. I hope i have made all necessary parts 🙂

You can find the file in 3D Graphics / Buildings

A small note to the animation software Messiah. I`ve bought the Pro version while the dare to share campaign. Boy would i`ve been pissed when i would have payed the full price 😀

The software is horrible to use, and has a really nasty workflow. But what has finally stopped me is the fact that it has no working pipeline. The only really working import format is the lightwave *.lwo format, and even that one arrives without normalmaps. The export is equal bad. At least FBX works somehow. But it just exports one UV per Object. You loose when your character is made of several parts. And i already use the patch that promised to fix this issue. I had also a curious mail conversation with the PMG programmers. And after they tried to tell me that the *.mtl file, which is part of a proper OBJ file, is of no real use i don`t really wonder anymore about the pipeline issues, heh. Messiah was a really scary experience. And the money was definitely wasted.

I`m back at Blender for animation now 🙂

Server Maintenance at Monday 2.5.2011

I need to do some work at the serverside. It can happen that the page is not available for a while then. Hopefully just one or two hours when everything works well. But don`t panic when it`s a bit longer. The page will definitely be back online 😉

I will start the work at Monday, 2.5.2011.

Jonathon S. Harbour`s Visual Basic Book rereleased

I totally forgot to post this news at my page. The move is still keeping me busy, heh.

Jonathon S. Harbour is a freelance writer who writes books about programming.  Now he has released the third edition of the book Visual Basic – Game programming for teens. What`s so exciting about it you may ask. Well. The book uses lots of my graphics 🙂

The book itself describes all necessary steps to create a little 2D RPG with Visual Basic, and goes from absolute Novice to Pro. Or to quote the book description:

“Visual Basic Game Programming for Teens, Third Edition” teaches beginning game programming students how to create their own 2D role-playing game (RPG) using the free to download and easy to use Visual Basic 2008 Express. The game is built step-by-step throughout the book as readers learn new skills and build upon them. This new edition features almost entirely new content from the previous edition and students will also learn game tool creation, animation skills, and graphics programming.”

Interested? You can find the book at Amazon for example.

Deadlinks

The move has produced a bit more deadlinks than i had expected. Mario has reported me about two complete pages where all the links were broken. 2D Misc and 2D Environment. Search and replace has its flaws, heh. The links are fixed now. Thanks to Mario for the report 🙂

I have also run a special WordPress plugin called Broken Link Checker, which told me about 20 more deadlinks. And i hope that i have catched all baddies now 🙂

New 3D character – Alister

Alister can be found in 3D Graphics / Character

Alister is a new character. I need something to play around with in Messiah, which i have owned a few weeks ago. Polycount is around 3400 quads for all pieces.

This character is somehow based at Winnie. I initially just wanted to make Winnie a bit nicer looking. But then the reshape carried me away. And so there is not this much left from the original. Which was no mistake 🙂

News Archive for 2010

I have archived the latest news from my old page here. It`s just around one year, because i always deleted older news. Nevertheless, here we go.

That`s one of the benefits of WordPress now. I don`t need to cut away the news anymore to keep the page small enough.

8.3.2011 – Forum and other Problems 2

I have finally found and fixed the error in the forum. A javascript file was corrupted. Now

Servermove

It is done, the move is nearly completed. The whole content is integrated now, the main work is finished. I hope i haven`t produced too much dead links.

What`s missing is the forum. But that shouldn`t last too long to set it up and get it back running. And what`s missing is to get my old domain from my hoster so that it will redirect to this new webspace. Something for next week. I hope this happens as flawless as possible.

The move to the new webspace has introduced some changings. I have removed the MMF files in the 2D graphics section. No need anymore for double data sets. At least from my angle of view.

And my old html page structure is history too. I have migrated to WordPress. Makes things a bit easier to handle. My old page structure had long grown behind the 100 single pages limit.

The biggest changing is that there will be no more commercials.

Have fun with the “new” page 🙂
